Free Crochet Pattern: Crochet Snowflake Earrings with Pearl Accent Tutorial

Crochet Snowflake Earrings with Pearl Accent Tutorial

Crochet snowflake earrings are the perfect accessory for the holiday season.  I recently made a couple pairs of these earrings for my mom's friends.  These earrings look great with a sweater and a pair of jeans or with a formal dress.

Love these earrings but don't have the time to make them yourself?  They are currently on sale in my Etsy shop.

Crochet Snowflake Earrings with Pearl Accent

Materials:

White Crochet Thread Size 10
Size 2.0 mm crochet hook
Needle
Pliers
Head Pins
Fishhook Earrings
Wire Cutters
Two glass pearls

Craftsy

The pattern for the snowflake is not my own. I followed the pattern for a simple snowflake by Sarah London.  The only difference is that I used white crochet thread size 10 and a size 2.0mm crochet hook. Make sure that you scroll down to the second set of instructions (USA).  The first set of instructions are written in UK terms.  Crochet two snowflakes using this pattern.

Next, using a pair of pliers open the bottom loop at the end of the fishhook earring.

Loop the fishhook earring through the top point of the snowflake.  Then, use the pliers to close the loop on the fishhook earring.

Next, take a glass pearl and place it onto the head pin.

Using the wire cutters, cut the excess wire off of the head pin.  You only need to leave about a quarter of an inch of wire above the top of the pearl.

Using the pliers, wrap the excess wire around to form a small loop. Place the loop through the bottom tip of the snowflake.  Use the pliers to close the loop.

Repeat these steps for your second earring.

Happy Hump Day. A Video To Make You Smile.

Happy Hump Day. A Video To Make You Smile.

Happy Hump Day!

I took this video over the past weekend. I have been spending time at my parent's house in Ohio so that I can go to the Cleveland Clinic.  There is the most beautiful family of deer in my parents neighborhood that wander around eating from people's bird feeders and gardens.  There are seven deer all together and they usually sleep behind the shed in my parent's backyard.  It's so funny to see a family of seven deer wandering around a city lot.

Over 200 Free Crochet Snowflake Patterns

Over 200 Free Crochet Snowflake Patterns

The holiday season is upon us.  One of the most iconic holiday crochet projects is the snowflake.  Over the years hundreds if not thousands of crochet snowflake patterns have been created.

There are nearly as many uses for these classic crochet flakes as there are patterns.  A few of my favorite ways I have seen crochet snowflakes used around the holidays are as ornaments on trees and wreaths, tied to the outside of a holiday gift, dangling from a rear view mirror, as garland around the house or office and as seasonal jewelry.

Recently, I found an amazing site dedicated to the crochet snowflake.  The site is called Snowcatcher and they have over 200 unique, and FREE, crochet snowflake patterns available.  I crocheted the snowflake in the photograph above using one of the snowflake patterns found on the site.

The designs found on Snowcatcher are absolutely unique and gorgeous.  There are even instructions on how to properly block your snowflakes after they have been crocheted.  This year, I used several of the free snowflake patterns found on Snowcatcher to crochet ornaments for family and friends.  I hope that you enjoy this site as much as I have.

I love the holidays.  Going for drives in the evenings to look at Christmas lights, spending time with friends and family, listening to holiday music. However, too often the financial stress of gift giving can overshadow the joy of the holiday season.

Something to Make you Smile This Sunday

Something to Make you Smile This Sunday

Here is something to make you smile this Sunday afternoon.  I took this video of my chihuahua puppy, Stella, yesterday.  It was her first time playing in the leaves and as you can see she absolutely loved it.  This video makes me smile so hopefully it will do the same for you.  A little tip before you watch it, first click play, then click the settings button on the bottom of the screen to the left of the clock shape. Finally, click on 720P.  It changes the video quality to high definition.  Happy Sunday!

What's To Come at Tampa Bay Crochet

What's To Come at Tampa Bay Crochet

There are lots of new and exciting things happening at Tampa Bay Crochet. As you can tell, I recently renovated my blog.  I felt it was time my blog had a facelift.  I am not 100% done with all of the updates but I am very pleased with how the blog looks so far.

I have four new free crochet patterns in the works.  I was considering holding back the release of my next free crochet pattern since Minion Mitts are still the #1 free crochet pattern on Craftsy's top 20 list but I just wont be able to wait.  I am hoping to release my next free crochet pattern this weekend.

The Win It All Giveaway has been going very well.  The contest ends November 29th.  Towards the end of the Win It All Giveaway I will be starting my next contest.  The prize for my next giveaway will be advertising spots on Tampa Bay Crochet.

Over the next few weeks I will also be looking into purchasing my own domain.  I am so incredibly excited.  When I started Tampa Bay Crochet I never dreamed that it would be so successful.  I sincerely thank each and every one of you for supporting my blog and helping Tampa Bay Crochet grow into the blog it is today.
